Benelli

Hi there. My name is Benelli and I’m 6 years old. I was an owner turn in to the wonderful people at DLRR. I’ve got a Foster Mom who is helping me lose weight. I’m currently on the chubby side so there’s more of me to love.

All people are my friends but I do miss the kids I use to live with so I would love a family to adopt me. Especially if they take me on short walks while I work on losing these extra pounds.

When excited I hop and that includes when I see my leash. I love walks, short ones for now, and car rides. I walk really well in the harness foster mom has me in as I am right by her side and I don’t pull very much. If I see another person, I might pull a little bit because I just want to go up and meet them and be their new best friend.

No counter surfing and I understand these words: treat, back, stay, sit, down, paw, bed time and wait. My favorite toy is my rope so we can play tug. Even though I’m a Lab I’m not a big fan of water. I jump over puddles when I’m walking.

When I have to go out and you don’t see me near the door, I will come and whine a little bit and then expect you to follow me. I’ve been left alone in the house and have left everything alone. I’m probably napping, on my bed anyway. Foster mom said it’s very important to let people know I don’t get on furniture. Now if you should invite me up, maybe I would get up but not right now.

Bonnie

Meet Bonnie – Your New Best Friend!

Hi, I’m Bonnie! I’m a 1-2 year-old Lab/Husky mix with a heart as big as my smile and a nose that’s always ready for adventure.  Forget the alarm, I got you covered!  Let’s grab a little grub and start the day with a walk.  I love exercise and any fun stimulation I can participate in.

After all that exercise and nice nap next to my people is perfect—snuggling is one of my favorite things in the world, and I never turn down a good belly rub session.

I currently live with two doggy foster sisters, and we’re getting along great! I’ve even learned to enjoy some playful wrestling . One of my foster sisters is really good at tug-of-war, which I love.   I also love  keeping an eye out for rabbits, quail, lizards, really anything that moves or relaxing with a good chew toy.   My foster sisters  taught me all the house rules —and I’m proud to say I’ve never had an accident in the house!

I’m learning my manners every day. I used to think the kitchen counter was an all-you-can-snack buffet, but I’ve learned that good behavior gets me way more love and attention. I don’t bark much, but will let you know if someone is at the door.

I’m easy to please at mealtime—I’ll happily eat just about anything. I’m also great on walks and polite on the leash, and I enjoy car rides especially if they end with a treat like a pup cup!

Swimming isn’t really my thing, but I do like to wade and cool off on the pool steps while the other dogs splash around. At bedtime, I’ll settle nicely in my doggy bed next to my sisters and sleep through the night.

My time with DLRR started with some pretty acute medical issues that have mostly resolved.  My foster mom is happy to discuss them with you and my ongoing care.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who’s the perfect mix of playful and affectionate, I might just be your girl. I can’t wait to find my forever family—and shower them with love every single day!

Meet Coco, the playful 3 year old, 50 lb, female chocolate lab with a heart as sweet as her name! This happy, friendly girl is always ready for fun; whether she’s zooming around the yard, showing off her favorite toys, or hanging out by your side. Coco is super food motivated (treats are the key to her heart!) and loves learning new things when snacks are involved.

Coco gets along well with other dogs in playgroup but they do need to respect her space. She has not met a feline yet. Coco is looking for an active family who’s ready to keep the fun going and give her all the love (and snacks) she deserves!

Foster

Meet Foster Your Next Adventure Buddy!

Foster is a one-and-a-half-year-old yellow Lab with a heart as big as his paws! This handsome, large goofball loves car rides, belly rubs, and snuggling up after a day of fun. He’s always up for an adventure, whether it’s hiking a new trail, tagging along to the barn, or just exploring the neighborhood.

Foster walks nicely on a leash  and would make an awesome adventure buddy for someone who loves getting out and about. He’s also kennel-trained, great on outings, and absolutely lives for belly rubs and time with his people. He’s been around horses, does great with outdoor activity, and is fully up to date on vet care: neutered, vaccinated, and healthy as can be.

He’ll thrive in a home that’s ready to keep up with his training and help him reach his goals. If you’re looking for a lovable, energetic companion who’s eager to learn and even more eager to love, this guy might be your perfect match.

If interested in meeting Foster, text the number listed to schedule a showing.

Garnet

Hi, I’m Garnet!

Strange name? Maybe! But when I was found as a stray—skinny, scared, and in need of help—the kind people who rescued me said I was red and a real gem. And just like that, Garnet stuck. Now I’m healthy, happy, and ready to shine in my very own home.

I’ve also been told I “ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog,” but my Labrador side stole the hearts of everyone at the shelter and my friends at DLRR. I’m an honorary Lab with a big, loyal heart—and honestly, a really good boy.

Since arriving in my foster home, I’ve learned SO much. With good food, soft beds, other dogs to play with, and people who care about me, I’ve discovered that living in a house is way better than being scared and hungry. I’m gaining confidence every day and can’t wait to show you my goofy, quirky personality. I even have a charming crooked smile that makes everyone melt.

My skills & favorites:

  • Great on a leash
  • Potty trained and crate trained
  • Enjoy car rides, parks, patio lunches, and visiting friends
  • Been on adventures—Riparian areas, Home Depot, Petco, you name it!
  • A little timid when meeting new people, but I warm up with kindness
  • Good with other dogs (my foster sister is my role model!)
  • Curious about kids and friendly, just still figuring them out
  • Low prey drive—I don’t bother bunnies or birds
  • Love toys, stuffies, balls, and Nylabones (and yes, I proudly empty the toy baskets!)
  • Only bark when another dog barks at me or if someone new arrives

My foster mom says I’m hilarious, affectionate, and full of love. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, red-haired gem of a dog who’s eager to please and excited for a bright future, I’d love to meet you.

Jack

Jack is a very energetic and fun dog that loves to chase balls and be around his people. He is a neutered 3 year old Black Lab mixed with a pointer breed. He weighs in at a mere 63 pounds but it is all muscle! Jack is very smart, loving, and loyal. His favorite thing to do is to chase balls into the pool and he’ll bring it right back for another throw. Even when he is very excited to play ball, he has learned to stay on command and only retrieve it when released. Once playtime is complete Jack settles into his engaging and calm personality.

Jack came to DLRR in December, 2024 because he had too much energy for a young busy family. The original owner stated that Jack was obtained from a breeder specializing in Pointing Labs for hunting dogs.

Jack has urinary incontinence and wears a belly band in the house during the day. He is housebroken; he just occasionally dribbles a few drops unknowingly. DLRR has performed extensive diagnostics on Jack and found his anatomy to be intact. Traditional medications have not been 100% effective for his incontinence. Additionally, Jack is overly exuberant on car rides. A successful management strategy includes Kong toys embedded with frozen treats.

Overall, Jack is a joy to be around and everyone who has spent any time with him falls in love with him. Jack is crate trained although he is not destructive in the home when left alone. He uses the dog door and sleeps on his dog bed through the night. He is friendly with strangers and other dogs. Jack is well behaved on the leash and when he sees other dogs, he is interested but not reactive. He has been very gentle with a visiting 18-month granddaughter. After receiving enough exercise, he settles down and loves to cuddle with his people. He is equally affectionate to men and women.

The best adoption match for Jack is a home with a pool and enough backyard space for good exercise. Owners should prepare for ample exercise time in the mornings and evenings. Anyone looking for a running partner, agility dog, dock diver or hunting dog?

Kenta

Oh boy…..Boy is right!! Kenta is a nine-year-old, male, yellow lab weighing in at almost 115 pounds. His name is of Japanese origin and is often associated with meanings like “healthy, strong” and “big, large.” Very appropriate for this boy!!!

But do not let his size fool you…he is very gentle and loving and he is ready for his fur-ever family. He came to DLRR due to his owner’s health issues and no one else was able to take him in.

His bark is quite alarming at first, but he greets everyone happily and enjoys every single pet he receives. He is very agile for his age and loves to run around and do his “dog stuff”! He likes to play with a ball occasionally but has zero interest in other toys.

He knows basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “down” and is incredibly good about coming when called. He is very eager to please!

It is important to him to be near his people. He is not a fan of being left out of any activity and will be vocal about his displeasure initially but settles down fairly quickly to wait. Normally he is simply happy to rest, patiently napping close to those he loves. He currently spends nights in the living room easily but will surely adapt to any area of your preference.

Due to his height, he does some counter surfing if he smells food but after being told “no”, he does move along without a problem.

He has been enjoying his time with his foster sister. They play some but mostly he just loves to be near her. They nap closely so he would be good with another dog in the home but would even be great all on his own. He will bark at and chase the resident cats in his foster home, so it is not recommended that he be adopted by someone who also has cats.

He is usually quite eager to get in the car and  while he pulls initially on his leash, he does take correction very well.

Food and daily enrichment activities that include snacks are his favorite things. We eat fruits and vegetables here and while he has enjoyed sampling them all, watermelon and berries are his favorite. He will never turn down a chance at a bite of roasted chicken!

This incredibly darling boy is a very special soul so if you are looking for a larger companion, text his foster mom to schedule a visit!

Mars

Mars is a 4 year old 50-lb pointer lab mix with all the wonderful traits of both breeds – smart, pleasing, loyal, friendly, athletic– and an extremely endearing personality. Her two foster families have fallen in love with her, kids and adults alike!

Mars came to be in DLRR’s care via MCACC, so while some of her history is a mystery, here is what we have learned through having her as one of our favorite guests in our home:

Traits:

  • gentle
  • people-pleasing
  • submissive (if she gets into something or picks up the wrong ball (dryer ball, kids’ baseballs, etc), she easily surrenders it. She is submissive with other dogs too.
  • affectionate. She loves to cuddle and have her paw or head on your lap!
  • timid around new people
  • loves walks/jogs (distance is no problem), her family, other dogs, and chew toys.
  • is not a bolter/runner, but does like to be outside and explore.

Skills: She knows “sit”, responds well to “no”, and is housebroken.

Other Considerations:

  • Mars needs training with healing on a leash, recall, and counter surfing.
  • She gets really excited when she sees other dogs walking.  If you let her say hello, she greets them very nicely. We’ve been using a transitional leash which she does well with!
  • She sleeps in a crate through the night.
  • She barks at new people, but has not shown any signs of aggression.
  • She can be left alone uncrated while you’re gone, although will occasionally get into trash or chew paper items (and then hangs her head low when you return… she’s just so sweet and smart!)

Mars is a very special dog! If you’d like to learn more about her, please contact me – I could go on and on about all that I love about her.

Mozi

Meet Mozi: Single 4.5-year-old chocolate Lab seeking loving family to spend quality time together! I love snuggling, long walks through the neighborhood, snuggling, playing with my toys (especially my stuffed toys), snuggling, hunting for socks, snuggling, taking naps, snuggling, playing with my foster sister, and snuggling. Nothing fills my heart more than spending time with the people that I love! I do not love cats, spending time alone, or the vet but I do love car rides and sleeping in my crate. I’m very well-mannered!  Of course, I’m house trained and you should be too! I’m seeking a family that is home the majority of the time so that we can snuggle! All of my friends say that I am the sweetest and most enjoyable, easy-going companion and that any family would be so lucky to have an amazing girl like me!

I am also so special that I come with my own chair to eat in! It’s true! I call her Bailey because it’s my Bailey chair for my megaesophagus. I love sitting in her to have my meals and hang out with my foster family for a while after I eat. I know that my foster mom would be so happy to show you how easy it is and how much fun I have in it!

Remmi

Hello there! My name is Remmi, and I am a 2 year old, 60 pound male Lab with just a touch of possible border collie. That would make sense due to how smart I am.

I was found as a stray and I am so thankful DLRR saved me. I am an exceptionally cute guy! I have the softest, thickest, shiniest, most beautiful coat with a little white patch on my chest (easy to pick me out of a lineup of those generically handsome purebred Labs), the whitest teeth, a little fringe on my tail and the pinkest tongue (more on that later).

My personality is equally exceptional! I am so sweet, I love everyone, I love all the belly rubs and I am a professional hugger myself and enjoy being with my person. I am currently working with a trainer and have come a long way in my manners and training to be the best companion for you and or a family. I enjoy toys, but not as much as I enjoy being close to you and cuddling! I also like getting in the baby pool and running around an obstacle course, I am SUPER athletic! I walk well on a leash, so if you are looking for a hiking buddy who can easily jump up on that high rock for the perfect Instagram shot, I am your guy!

Other dogs are fun for me and I love playing with them, I could be in a home with another dog and possibly a cat, since I have met my trainers cat and was just fine and moved on. If you think you might like to meet me, drop me a line and I would love the opportunity to meet you and show how sweet and what a good boy I am.

Waldo

Where’s Waldo? Right Here—And You’ll Never Lose Him Again!

You know the age-old question: “Where’s Waldo?”  Well, if you make me part of your family, you’ll never have to look very far! I may not wear the iconic red stripes or pom-pom hat, but you’ll spot me easily usually because I’m zooming around with a toy in my mouth, following you with pure joy, or plopped at your feet waiting for my next adventure.

I’m Waldo: a 2-year-old, 41-pound black Lab mix who looks suspiciously like an oversized puppy. Big paws, big head, big heart. People keep saying I froze in time at maximum cuteness, and honestly? I agree.

My Vibe: Energetic, Sweet, and Full of Goofy Charm

I’m playful, affectionate, quick to learn, and faster to love. I’m the kind of dog who wants to be where the action is…preferably with a toy to squeak, a ball to chase, or a person to adore.

Favorite Things (Prepare for Enthusiasm):

  • Toys. Any toys. All toys. If it squeaks, even better.
  • Playdates! I play wonderfully with other dogs and would love a sibling who enjoys romping.
  • Walks & adventures: I’m walking much better on a harness now (big improvement!) and I love exploring.
  • Training & treats: I’m super smart, listen well, and I love to please. Treats = magic.
  • Cuddles & companionship: I’m affectionate and adore being near my people.

My Home Skills (I’ve Been Practicing!):

  • Crate trained! I settle in nicely when you are away (or even home and I need to rest) and sleep through the night like a dream.
  • House manners: No accidents so far! I use the doggy door beautifully to follow my dog friends, and I’m learning to use it independently for potty breaks.
  • Car rides: I’m a dream passenger.
  • House behavior: I’ve been a gentleman in my foster home and play respectfully with the resident dogs.

What My Future Family Should Know:

  • I’m basically a very charming pint size lab with loads of potential.  A yard would make me the happiest little Waldo ever, and a playful dog friend would be a huge plus!
