Bear
Meet Bear — Small Frame, Huge Heart!
Bear is a handsome, 50 lb. black Lab mix (3–5 years old) who is
looking for a loving home to call his own! Don’t let his size fool you
— what he lacks in stature, he makes up for with an overflowing heart
and tons of love to give.
Here’s why Bear will steal your heart:
· Leash-Walking Champ: Bear loves his daily walks! He gets so
excited when the leash comes out that he sits, walks backward, and eagerly
waits to be clipped in.
· House Manners Expert: He’s fully potty trained, sleeps
soundly in his own bed through the night, and can comfortably stay home alone
for a few hours without needing a crate.
· Smart & Playful: Bear knows "sit" and
"paw" (and is almost there with "stay"!). He loves
playing with his toys — especially his favorite octopus, which he
proudly tosses around when he's happy.
· Calm & Sweet: While a bit shy with new friends at first,
his affectionate personality warms up quickly. He’s great around
10-year-old kids, loves brushing sessions, and calmly observes people, dogs,
and cats on walks without fuss. Plus, he's a
fantastic car passenger!
· Foodie: Bear is super treat-motivated — Swiss cheese
is his go-to favorite for taking his pills!
Health & Medical Notes: Bear is currently undergoing treatment for
Valley Fever and will need to continue for some time, with re-testing in
3–4 months. He also has some previous leg injuries. Despite this, he
enjoys life and loves mild-to-moderate activity! To help him live his best,
most comfortable life, his future family can choose to pursue knee surgery
down the road. Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue (DLRR) will cover 100% of the
surgical costs and coordinate directly with the orthopedic specialists at
Southwest Veterinary Surgical.
