Zeus Oncology Fund™ The Zeus Oncology Fund™ (ZOF) was established in 2017 to help provide funding for care and treatment of our DLRR dogs diagnosed with cancer. The ZOF is in honor of Zeus, a DLRR alumni who was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma. Zeus had surgery along with necessary treatment and rehabilitation, and his cancer returned less than three months later. When funding permits, we also offer financial assistance to our DLRR alumni dogs who have been diagnosed with cancer. These special grants and gifts allow us to help our adopted Labs and their families when they need financial assistance. This assistance is available through our Income Assistance Application, which can be sent to you via email. Please email your request to melissarupoli@me.com. It is in his honor that other DLRR dogs are granted the opportunity to have safe cancer treatment, rehabilitation, recovery, hospice care if required, and most other necessary requirements and needs as they go through their treatment process. Each unique case is reviewed carefully with the dog’s best interest during the decision process, and funding is based on approval. To donate specifically to our Zeus Oncology Fund™ , please click the button below. Each dollar goes directly to the quality care of our cancer dogs who are under the supervision and guidance of a Board Certified Canine Oncologist. The criteria for funding includes the following: 1) A Board Certified Canine Oncologist reviews diagnosis, treatment options, and overall health of the dog. (All areas will be considered, such as age, current health, treatment research, viability and owners commitment to treatment.) 2) A portion of financial assistance may be granted, or possibly full treatment costs covered—each case is reviewed individually. You may be required to complete and submit an Income Assistance Application (IAA). Response time is typically five business days from submittal of the IAA. There may also be a phone discussion, review of health records, reports and updates required for financial assistance. All payments are made directly to the Veterinary Practice or Oncologist responsible for your pet’s treatment. 3) Financial grants are only offered to those individuals who have limited financial funds for the treatment of their DLRR dog. 4) Contact melissarupoli@me.com to receive your Income Assistance Application.

Cooper My name is Cooper and I am a big handsome boy that has a fair amount of energy for someone my age – we think that I’m about 10 years old. Did you know that senior labs are awesome? I have not had the most stable life but I am looking for my furever home now. I can walk on a leash, with a little help from you to guide me since I am blind. But please don’t let that deter you . . . I get around great, and I am as happy as can be! Blind dogs are very special, you know. I have met several humans at public Meet and Greet events and they all like to pet me and I really like it too, even the little people. But since I am quite large in size, little people may get knocked down because I can’t see them when I move. I am like a big cuddly bear and my fur is so soft. I am housebroken and have been around other dogs. But I would do fine with just my humans if they didn’t have other dog(s). I do my best to find my way around, am not hesitant to meet new people and confident that someone will see how much love I have to give. I may not do well with a doggie door because I could get lost outside and not find my way back inside. If you have a pool I would also need supervision to get in and out if I decide I like the water, and if you do have a pool, it would have to be fenced for my safety. I am a pretty easy going fellow just looking for a furever place to live and be loved. My pictures don’t really do me justice, you need to see me in person.

Every dog that we intake needs a foster home to provide a kind, loving home while it is waiting to go to its new forever home. Foster homes are the cornerstone of our organization and what we require in order to rescue our Labs in need. All you need to be established as a foster home is an appropriate place to house a dog, time to spend with him or her, and a heart big enough to love a dog that is in the midst of a big transition. You will also need to set time aside to attend meet and greets to introduce your foster dog to potential adopters along the way to placing him or her in a loving home.
