Jack (16)
Meet Jack
I’ve been waiting for a while now to find my forever home …
over a year, actually.
People tell me I’m a really good dog. They say I’m loyal,
smart, and the kind of companion anyone would be lucky to have. I hope
they’re right. I try my best every day.
My name’s Jack, and if you throw a ball for me, you’ll see my
whole world light up. I think I was meant to be a “bird dog,” but
I decided being a “ball dog” is way more fun. I’ll chase
it, bring it right back, and if there’s water nearby—well,
I’m definitely jumping in after it. Sometimes the ball disappears into
a bush, and I have to dig around to find it… all you might see is my
little tail wagging while I search. I hear that makes people smile.
But what I really love isn’t just the ball—it’s being
with my people.
Inside the house, I like to stay close. Just knowing you’re nearby
makes me happy. After I’ve had some exercise, I’m calm and
content, ready to relax and keep you company.
I’ve learned a lot while I’ve been waiting. I use my doggie
door like a pro, and I’ve worked really hard on my manners. I will hang
out in a crate if you want me to, but I’m a good boy when left alone in
the house. I have learned the meaning of some people words like sit, down,
stay, wait, ball, go to your bed.
I’ve met lots of nice people along the way. I’ve spent time in
different homes, and every time, they tell me how much they love me. I just
wish one of them had been my forever family.
I can be gentle, too. There’s a little toddler who visits sometimes,
and I’m so careful with her. I even showed her how to play fetch. I
think I’d be really good in a home where I can be part of a family.
At night, I curl up on my dog bed and sleep quietly. But if I could make
one wish… it would be to sleep next to my people, somewhere I know
I’ll still be in the morning.
I’ll be honest—I do get excited sometimes. Car rides are a big
deal to me, and I’m still learning how to sit quietly because I just
can’t wait to see where we’re going. Life feels exciting, even
after all this waiting.
I’ve been here for over a year, watching other dogs find their
homes. I wag my tail for everyone who comes by, hoping maybe this
time… it’s for me.
I don’t need anything fancy. Just a home with a pool and room for me
to run and play fetch and humans who will throw the ball, let me be by their
side, and love me for who I am.
I promise I’ll give that love right back. Every single day.
I’m ready when you are.
Love, Jack
