Bonnie

Meet Bonnie – Your New Best Friend!

Hi, I’m Bonnie! I’m a 1-2 year-old Lab/Husky mix with a heart as big as my smile and a nose that’s always ready for adventure. Forget the alarm, I got you covered! Let’s grab a little grub and start the day with a walk. I love exercise and any fun stimulation I can participate in.

After all that exercise and nice nap next to my people is perfect—snuggling is one of my favorite things in the world, and I never turn down a good belly rub session.

I currently live with two doggy foster sisters, and we’re getting along great! I’ve even learned to enjoy some playful wrestling . One of my foster sisters is really good at tug-of-war, which I love. I also love keeping an eye out for rabbits, quail, lizards, really anything that moves or relaxing with a good chew toy. My foster sisters taught me all the house rules —and I’m proud to say I’ve never had an accident in the house!

I’m learning my manners every day. I used to think the kitchen counter was an all-you-can-snack buffet, but I’ve learned that good behavior gets me way more love and attention. I don’t bark much, but will let you know if someone is at the door.

I’m easy to please at mealtime—I’ll happily eat just about anything. I’m also great on walks and polite on the leash, and I enjoy car rides especially if they end with a treat like a pup cup!

Swimming isn’t really my thing, but I do like to wade and cool off on the pool steps while the other dogs splash around. At bedtime, I’ll settle nicely in my doggy bed next to my sisters and sleep through the night.

My time with DLRR started with some pretty acute medical issues that have mostly resolved. My foster mom is happy to discuss them with you and my ongoing care.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who’s the perfect mix of playful and affectionate, I might just be your girl. I can’t wait to find my forever family—and shower them with love every single day!

Foster

Meet Foster Your Next Adventure Buddy!

Foster is a one-and-a-half-year-old yellow Lab with a heart as big as his paws! This handsome, large goofball loves car rides, belly rubs, and snuggling up after a day of fun. He’s always up for an adventure, whether it’s hiking a new trail, tagging along to the barn, or just exploring the neighborhood.

Foster walks nicely on a leash but still gets a little distracted by all the excitement around him (squirrels are very interesting, after all). He’s been around horses, does great with outdoor activity, and is fully up to date on vet care: neutered, vaccinated, and healthy as can be.

Because he missed out on formal training during his first year, Foster will thrive with someone who can be patient, consistent, and confident in continuing his learning. With structure, love, and a few extra belly rubs, this sweet boy will blossom into the loyal, adventure-loving best friend you’ve been looking for

If interested in meeting Foster, Text the number listed to schedule a showing.

Garnet

Hi, I’m Garnet!

Strange name? Maybe! But when I was found as a stray—skinny, scared, and in need of help—the kind people who rescued me said I was red and a real gem. And just like that, Garnet stuck. Now I’m healthy, happy, and ready to shine in my very own home.

I’ve also been told I “ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog,” but my Labrador side stole the hearts of everyone at the shelter and my friends at DLRR. I’m an honorary Lab with a big, loyal heart—and honestly, a really good boy.

Since arriving in my foster home, I’ve learned SO much. With good food, soft beds, other dogs to play with, and people who care about me, I’ve discovered that living in a house is way better than being scared and hungry. I’m gaining confidence every day and can’t wait to show you my goofy, quirky personality. I even have a charming crooked smile that makes everyone melt.

My skills & favorites:

  • Great on a leash
  • Potty trained and crate trained
  • Enjoy car rides, parks, patio lunches, and visiting friends
  • Been on adventures—Riparian areas, Home Depot, Petco, you name it!
  • A little timid when meeting new people, but I warm up with kindness
  • Good with other dogs (my foster sister is my role model!)
  • Curious about kids and friendly, just still figuring them out
  • Low prey drive—I don’t bother bunnies or birds
  • Love toys, stuffies, balls, and Nylabones (and yes, I proudly empty the toy baskets!)
  • Only bark when another dog barks at me or if someone new arrives

My foster mom says I’m hilarious, affectionate, and full of love. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, red-haired gem of a dog who’s eager to please and excited for a bright future, I’d love to meet you.

Jack

Jack is a very energetic and fun dog that loves to chase balls and be around his people. He is a neutered 3 year old Black Lab mixed with a pointer breed. He weighs in at a mere 63 pounds but it is all muscle! Jack is very smart, loving, and loyal. His favorite thing to do is to chase balls into the pool and he’ll bring it right back for another throw. Even when he is very excited to play ball, he has learned to stay on command and only retrieve it when released. Once playtime is complete Jack settles into his engaging and calm personality.

Jack came to DLRR in December, 2024 because he had too much energy for a young busy family. The original owner stated that Jack was obtained from a breeder specializing in Pointing Labs for hunting dogs.

Jack has urinary incontinence and wears a belly band in the house during the day. He is housebroken; he just occasionally dribbles a few drops unknowingly. DLRR has performed extensive diagnostics on Jack and found his anatomy to be intact. Traditional medications have not been 100% effective for his incontinence. Additionally, Jack is overly exuberant on car rides. A successful management strategy includes Kong toys embedded with frozen treats.

Overall, Jack is a joy to be around and everyone who has spent any time with him falls in love with him. Jack is crate trained although he is not destructive in the home when left alone. He uses the dog door and sleeps on his dog bed through the night. He is friendly with strangers and other dogs. Jack is well behaved on the leash and when he sees other dogs, he is interested but not reactive. He has been very gentle with a visiting 18-month granddaughter. After receiving enough exercise, he settles down and loves to cuddle with his people. He is equally affectionate to men and women.

The best adoption match for Jack is a home with a pool and enough backyard space for good exercise. Owners should prepare for ample exercise time in the mornings and evenings. Anyone looking for a running partner, agility dog, dock diver or hunting dog?

Kenta

Oh boy…..Boy is right!! Kenta is a nine-year-old, male, yellow lab weighing in at almost 115 pounds. His name is of Japanese origin and is often associated with meanings like “healthy, strong” and “big, large.” Very appropriate for this boy!!!

But do not let his size fool you…he is very gentle and loving and he is ready for his fur-ever family. He came to DLRR due to his owner’s health issues and no one else was able to take him in.

His bark is quite alarming at first, but he greets everyone happily and enjoys every single pet he receives. He is very agile for his age and loves to run around and do his “dog stuff”! He likes to play with a ball occasionally but has zero interest in other toys.

He knows basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “down” and is incredibly good about coming when called. He is very eager to please!

It is important to him to be near his people. He is not a fan of being left out of any activity and will be vocal about his displeasure initially but settles down fairly quickly to wait. Normally he is simply happy to rest, patiently napping close to those he loves. He currently spends nights in the living room easily but will surely adapt to any area of your preference.

Due to his height, he does some counter surfing if he smells food but after being told “no”, he does move along without a problem.

He has been enjoying his time with his foster sister. They play some but mostly he just loves to be near her. They nap closely so he would be good with another dog in the home but would even be great all on his own. He will bark at and chase the resident cats in his foster home, so it is not recommended that he be adopted by someone who also has cats.

He is usually quite eager to get in the car and  while he pulls initially on his leash, he does take correction very well.

Food and daily enrichment activities that include snacks are his favorite things. We eat fruits and vegetables here and while he has enjoyed sampling them all, watermelon and berries are his favorite. He will never turn down a chance at a bite of roasted chicken!

This incredibly darling boy is a very special soul so if you are looking for a larger companion, text his foster mom to schedule a visit!

Lainey

Meet Lainey, a sweet gorgeous 2 1/2 yr old yellow Lab. She’s 72 lbs. of lovable, Labrador lusciousness! Lainey waits politely for meals, takes treats gently, sleeps through the night, and lets you know when she needs to go out. She knows sit, shake, down, wait and is working on stay and come. She is a fast learner and a smart girly. Lainey rides like a pro in the car- jumping in the back seat and laying down. She’s a great cuddler, likes her belly rubbed and happily follows you from room to room, even waiting for you outside the door while you take a shower! She’s been trustworthy in the house for about four hours uncrated, and knows how to be crated too. She absolutely LOVES playing catch with a tennis ball outside or a stuffed toy inside. She enjoys morning and evening walks – a must for this energetic gal. She hasn’t previously been walked on a leash, so she is doing awesome learning to walk without pulling. She gets a little distracted when she sees other dogs and people out on walks, but it’s playful curiosity not reactiveness.

Her previous family had a cat and 2 small children (3 and 5), so we’re told she’s good with cats and kids, although DLRR hasn’t seen this first-hand.

If you think this playful, smart, and loving girl could be the right fit for your family, please text if you would like to meet Miss Lainey.

Remmi

Hello there! My name is Remmi, and I am a 2 year old, 60 pound male Lab with just a touch of possible border collie. That would make sense due to how smart I am.

I was found as a stray and I am so thankful DLRR saved me. I am an exceptionally cute guy! I have the softest, thickest, shiniest, most beautiful coat with a little white patch on my chest (easy to pick me out of a lineup of those generically handsome purebred Labs), the whitest teeth, a little fringe on my tail and the pinkest tongue (more on that later).

My personality is equally exceptional! I am so sweet, I love everyone, I love all the belly rubs and I am a professional hugger myself and enjoy being with my person. I am currently working with a trainer and have come a long way in my manners and training to be the best companion for you and or a family. I enjoy toys, but not as much as I enjoy being close to you and cuddling! I also like getting in the baby pool and running around an obstacle course, I am SUPER athletic! I walk well on a leash, so if you are looking for a hiking buddy who can easily jump up on that high rock for the perfect Instagram shot, I am your guy!

Other dogs are fun for me and I love playing with them, I could be in a home with another dog and possibly a cat, since I have met my trainers cat and was just fine and moved on. If you think you might like to meet me, drop me a line and I would love the opportunity to meet you and show how sweet and what a good boy I am.

Waldo

Where’s Waldo? Well, I’ll tell you that if you make me a part of your family, you won’t ever wonder – and not because I’d wear a red striped shirt and beanie – but because I will have a ball or a toy in my mouth and be right in front of you!

Here are my stats: I am a 2-year-old, 45 lb. black male Lab mix and I have been told I look just like a 6 month old Lab! Big legs and head, it’s like I stopped growing at the cutest phase – I could use a few pounds to round out my body but that’s not a problem, I love food!

I am a sweet, energetic and lovable dog who thrives on playtime and companionship – I am squiggly and super-fast! Whether it’s a game of fetch, a brisk walk or just hanging out with you, I am always up for a good time!

I love:

Playdates with other dogs, after a careful introduction, I really love playing and I love the water! I can’t tell you if I have been swimming before, but I love the kiddie pool!
Daily walks and outdoor adventures, I do need leash training, I pull hard and we will both be happier when I am trained!
Plush toys and squeaky toys. I am a chewer!
Treats (hot dogs and deli meat over dog treats!) and training sessions (I’m a quick learner), and take treats very gently!
Cuddling and love!

Here are a few things about me that my future family should know:

Since I’ve been staying at a boarding facility, we are not sure if I am housebroken or crate trained, but it would be a good idea to teach me to like a crate, as I might get into chewing mischief if left alone, at least initially.

I met a cat once, and boy was I looking for a new friend! But one well-placed swat on my nose told me all I needed to know – and I proudly walked away.

I’m a quick learner, especially when treats are involved (big surprise there!) I know I would enjoy a large yard to romp around and chase balls! I am a pocket Lab goofball, and I will bring laughter to my new family!

My adopters should be aware that I am basically a puppy and be committed to helping me improve my leash and general life skills. Because of my energy level I will need to be in a home with older children or adults who can provide me with the structure I need to become my very best self, other dogs could be a great thing! I love to play with other dogs and perhaps they could teach me a thing or three.

Oh, and if you adopt me, we will get two free training sessions with the trainer who is currently helping me with my leash skills and general manners! Win-win, I’d say!
