Jax Sweet. Calm. Solid. Steady companion. Jax (10) possesses these traits and he is loving and well-behaved to boot. Life threw him a curve ball (the family who raised him was in crisis and could no longer care for him) and he is running with it. What else would you expect from an 82 lb., 8- year-old Lab? Jax loves people, walks, belly rubs and naps. Massaging his head may earn you a lean in or a paw tap. He wants to share his Zen moments. Peaceful. He is beyond the puppy/junior antics however his playful side is emerging and needs coaxing. Jax favors his daily morning walk. He is alert to various size critters, dogs and people, responding at times with a curiosity pull, slow down or stop. In general, he walks well on a leash, responds to correction and moves on. His newest adventure is watching/waiting on pool steps and with encouragement, taking the plunge (he takes to water like a Lab with big webbed feet) for a quick swim. Patience as he continues to gain confidence. Jax has dry skin, some hair thinning and loss (patches on flanks and belly) and thickened skin on his paw pads (hyperkeratosis) which does not appear to interfere with his activity or well-being. Jax facts: house-trained, non-destructive, no jumping, trusted to roam indoors, no counter surfing, sleeps throughout the night, keeps an eye on your whereabouts, gives a few alert barks, rides well in the car, knows basic commands, and shares life with a chill foster brother. Jax would thrive in a home where his people are around most of the time. A home that will help him stay active and healthy. He would do well with an easy-going canine companion or as an only dog. Well-mannered Jax is ready for his new family. A family that will welcome him, love him and make him feel secure. He will be a loyal and affectionate companion in return. Are you ready for him?
