Garnet
Hi, I’m Garnet!
Strange name? Maybe! But when I was found as a stray—skinny, scared, and in need of help—the kind people who rescued me said I was red and a real gem. And just like that, Garnet stuck. Now I’m healthy, happy, and ready to shine in my very own home.
I’ve also been told I “ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog,” but my Labrador side stole the hearts of everyone at the shelter and my friends at DLRR. I’m an honorary Lab with a big, loyal heart—and honestly, a really good boy.
Since arriving in my foster home, I’ve learned SO much. With good food, soft beds, other dogs to play with, and people who care about me, I’ve discovered that living in a house is way better than being scared and hungry. I’m gaining confidence every day and can’t wait to show you my goofy, quirky personality. I even have a charming crooked smile that makes everyone melt.
My skills & favorites:
- Great on a leash
- Potty trained and crate trained
- Enjoy car rides, parks, patio lunches, and visiting friends
- Been on adventures—Riparian areas, Home Depot, Petco, you name it!
- A little timid when meeting new people, but I warm up with kindness
- Good with other dogs (my foster sister is my role model!)
- Curious about kids and friendly, just still figuring them out
- Low prey drive—I don’t bother bunnies or birds
- Love toys, stuffies, balls, and Nylabones (and yes, I proudly empty the toy baskets!)
- Only bark when another dog barks at me or if someone new arrives
My foster mom says I’m hilarious, affectionate, and full of love. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, red-haired gem of a dog who’s eager to please and excited for a bright future, I’d love to meet you.
