Ember

Hello, I'm Ember — a 15-month-old black Lab with soulful eyes, a
gentle heart, and a quiet spirit that’s just beginning to bloom. At 51
pounds, I’m the perfect medium-sized companion with plenty of love to
give once I feel safe and comfortable.

I was born and raised in my previous home, and honestly, I didn’t
get to venture out the front door very often. The world is still pretty new
to me! I’m learning that walks can actually be fun, toys are
entertaining, and snuggles might just be one of the best things ever. I can
be a little shy at first and fast movements sometimes startle me, so I
appreciate kind people who will encourage me to move forward and help me
feel secure.

In my previous home, I lived with a 5-year-old human and was part of a
very full house, so being home alone is something I’m still adjusting
to. Staying in a kennel while alone isn’t really my favorite thing, but
I can free roam semi-responsibly —  I may occasionally look for a
little harmless mischief to entertain myself.

While my people are home, though, I’m perfectly happy relaxing in my
crate or stretched out on a comfy dog bed nearby. I’m about 98%
housebroken, and I do best with a routine and possibly access to a
doggie door if I’ll be alone for longer stretches.

I get along wonderfully with dogs and cats, and I’m looking for
a patient family who will help me continue building confidence through
consistency, love, and encouragement. Underneath my reserved nature is a
sweet girl who is ready to be spoiled, cherished, and finally discover just
how wonderful life can be.
