Hunter

Hunter

Well Hello!  I’m Hunter – a sophisticated name for me as
I am a complete goofball –  a 5 year old, 82  pound male chocolate
Lab with just a touch of something else – hound perhaps, given my
XL-sized ears!  Also, I am  about 10-15  lbs short of my ideal
weight of 90-95 lbs – I am a BIG boy!

I was found lying on the sidewalk in Tucson, suffering from ticks and heat
exhaustion – I had  been on the streets for some time.
Nonetheless, I have the most beautiful, thick dark cognac colored fur
that will only grow shinier with proper nutrition and good care (I’m
good at being bathed, by the way)!

So far, word is that I am a delight; and, frankly, I’ve nailed it
– I ride well in the car, walk well on a leash, know how to sit, love
attention and toys, splashing in water, playing with other dogs, children and
food  ( I hear that cool holiday Thanksgiving is coming up –
second helpings, please!)

My personality is exceptional.  I am so sweet, I love everyone
– my specialty is staring into your eyes and waiting for fun!  I
love balls, and am a very good retriever. I bring the ball back and will give
it to you right away….mostly!

Here are a few things to know about me… as I have been staying at a
boarding facility I can’t tell you (for sure) that  I am
housetrained or if I can be in a crate.  Odds are good that I am
housetrained, and I hope at the mature age of five years that I am fine left
alone – BUT again, I don’t have the words to confirm this!

For sure I need to work on two areas specifically:  I will sometimes
jump on you to solicit attention, and sometimes I can be a bit
“gimme-grabby” with treats (not surprising given I was nearly
starved when I was found.)  But, I am so treat motivated and such a
smart boy this little bit of etiquette refinement won’t be hard with
consistent training.

Since I am so big and active, I must be in a home without little children,
I just might knock one over if I run by, and no one wants that! I will also
need a yard and a lot of exercise, probably no apartments or small condos for
me. A pool would be great, or a “hiker person”  who knows
all the good rivers and streams – nature’s splashpad, as I
say!

If you think you might like to meet me, drop my foster Mom advocate a text
or a call!
