Goose

Goose is a bright and curious two-year old black labrador who weighs in at 80 lbs and is fully housebroken and crate-trained.  Unlike the typical labrador, he hardly sheds at all.  Goose has been neutered, fully immunized and chipped and passed his recent health assessment with flying colors.

Goose is a very playful, active boy who absolutely loves chasing balls almost as much as he loves food (maybe more).  When he’s not chasing balls around the house, he loves to chew on his Benebone and Kong toys but never tries to chew on shoes or anything else he is not supposed to have.  He also loves long walks and snuggles and is fairly easy to walk with the “gentle leader” nose harness.  He is very sweet and has made friends all over the neighborhood.  Goose enjoys car rides and usually just sits in the back like a good boy (now that his fosters have gotten a seat belt to keep him safe).

Goosey is exceptionally smart and responds well to commands such as “sit/stay”, “come here”, “drop it” and “leave it” among others.  He is also good about letting you know when he needs to go outside  Goose will definitely bark when the doorbell rings or delivery trucks pull up to the house but will stop as soon as his humans investigate and tell him it is okay.

Goose goes into his crate like an angel when his fosters need to leave for a bit or it is time to say goodnight.  However, he is a bit of an early riser and lets us know he’s ready to get out of his crate in the morning (often before the sun rises).  Thankfully, after a drink of water and potty-break outside, he will usually just lay quietly (chewing his Benebone) for an hour or two until his humans get up and take him for his morning walk.  Goose is generally not a jumper except when he is not getting wanted attention from his fosters so we are working on a quicker response to the “off” command.  While Goose is very friendly with the neighborhood dogs (even a few dogs that don’t generally like other dogs), he has some “dominance” issues which led to problems with another dog in his prior home.  Goose has had minimal contact with cats but did give a low growl when he once passed by a cat, so he would likely do best with a cat-free family.

Goose would be the best buddy for an active family able to provide him with lots of play time and as he matures, will no doubt provide many years of fun and love.  You could not ask for a better boy to join your family!
