Doobie
Are you ready for your new best friend? A real “Good
Doobie?”
Meet Doobie! He is a 4 year old, 50 pound black Lab mix with a wish
to live his best life! Doobie and his sister, Lena, were rescued from a
hoarding situation in Winslow. They spent months at the Winslow Shelter
and were finally fostered by a DLRR volunteer up there – and finally
made it down to the Valley to find their forever homes!
Because of his background, Doobie has not had much socialization, so a lot
of the world is new to him, and frankly a bit scary. However, he has
blossomed after just two weeks in foster care. He is a dog who will
take some time to adjust but we know that he will emerge a happy, energetic
boy – he already has come so far!
Doobie would do well in a house with another dog to give him confidence as
he settles into his new home – and bonus, if you are interested, he and
Lena would love to be adopted together! A two-fer, double the fun, two
for one? Doobie and Lena are game!
Doobie LOVES long walks, and will need them daily, he doesn’t pull,
but does “zig-zag” a bit….for now, he is nervous meeting
new people out and about; however, he is comfortable with people coming into
the house. He loves other dogs. His foster has not heard him
bark, even when his foster brother is barking.
Balls are a cool thing, he loves playing on his own, and recently
graduated to sort of retrieving. Doobie hasn’t had a lot of
chances to play with toys in his life, so watching him discover the joys of
toys is amazing! He also loves wrestling with his foster brother
– or would if his foster brother would allow it! But, Doobie
takes the hint and looks for other avenues of fun! He is a smart boy who
loves cuddling and treats.
His foster in Winslow reported that Doobie loves the water, although he
has been cautious around his foster’s pool, we think with time and
exposure he will learn the joys of swimming! He did
“tolerate” a bath this week!
Doobie is house trained and not destructive. He doesn’t like a
crate, but his foster has found it is not necessary, Doobie does just fine
left alone in the house. He rides well in the car, too!
Doobie is a wonderful dog who will need a home with a patient owner who
will allow him to take some time to settle in – but once settled in,
let the fun begin! He will need a yard to romp in and daily walks!
Doobie is a happy, smart, fun and funny boy who will shower you with
love and cuddles.
