Coco Bean

Hi there, I am Coco Bean, an 8 year old Chocolate Lab. I may be 8 but I’ve got the playful demeanor of a younger dog. I was recently purchased off Craigslist but surrendered when that family had a change of plans. I’m quickly adapting to foster life – working on my leash skills and playing lots of fetch.

I absolutely love fetch and carrying around my tennis ball. Sometimes you may have to be patient for me to drop the ball at first, because I’ll carry it around for a while, but when I’m ready, I’ll play fetch all day long – I am a great retriever! I’m learning to do less zigging and zagging on walks – I just get so excited.  I take treats very gently from my foster hosts’ hands, and have good manners at meal time. Belly rubs and being brushed are also the way to my heart!

I ride pretty well in the car, and just need a few minutes to settle in. I do whine from time to time when I want attention at home, but I don’t usually bark at the door when all the Amazon packages get delivered. I’m a fast learner at commands like “quiet” and “wait” and “heel”. I already know “sit”, “down”, “off”, “paw”, “walk” and “go to your crate”. We can learn more together.

My foster family doesn’t have cats but they heard I used to live with 2, so I might do ok around them. I don’t need any dog siblings because I love to be spoiled, but I may do fine in a home with another dog too. (My foster sisters get along with me just fine.) But please know that my crate is my safe space and I will be protective of it. I don’t like other dogs or people getting too close to my sanctuary.

I’ve been waiting a while for the right structure and attention to help me live my best life. It’s about time!  My birthday is January 30th, and I’d love to be home before my 9th birthday. Better yet, I’d love to be home before Christmas. Will you help make my dreams come true? Please text my foster mom if you want to meet me. I’ll even bring a tennis ball along!
