Sola
Hello, I’m Sola a 76lb, 10 -year -old, female, black Lab mix.
I do not know why I was left tied to a pole but I do appreciate the good
people who provided me shade, water and reported my situation. My owner
was located, cited and I was surrendered. I ended up at the Humane
Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA). DLRR heard of my plight and took me
into their care. I am so grateful; you will see my appreciation daily
as I gaze at you and look for guidance, dance (not jump) when you come
through the door or do short zoomies around the yard.
It took me a few days before I was comfortable in my foster home, however
I was soon seeking attention; rear end and chin scratches (favorites), and
ear rubs resulting in peacefulness that comes with feeling secure. It
wasn’t long before I began tempting my foster mom (FM) to play,
dropping a toy at her feet and with an ‘I dare you’
look in my eyes plus wagging tail, she took the hint. I found this
approach also worked on my foster dog brother and short bursts of spirited
fun ensued. After a few minutes of play, I am quick to settle
down.
I still take my time with new situations. FM is introducing me to
different people and places and it’s helping me adjust to this new
life.
A few notables: I sit and wait, walk with a loose leash
(I like being outside), ride well in the car, sleep through the night,
share toys with a foster brother, alert bark (tell me it’s ok and
I resume my snooze), and I am trustworthy when left alone in the house.
I enjoy being near my family and calm surroundings. Having
someone home most of the day would be best for me.
I am working on shedding a few pounds. A healthy diet along with
walks and playtime should help me drop those pounds in no time. I also
have typical fatty masses of which Labs are prone. They do not
interfere with my life and just need observation.
My FM says I am a “keeper”; that I’m smart, sweet and an
easy to care for senior. I need a family that will provide
patience, care, love and engagement in life. I am the loyal,
loving companion that will be there with a Lab lean-in to bring you peace ( I
would rub your ears if I could). FM will provide more details
