Velvet

You know that feeling that you get when you are home feeling safe and protected, with a full belly and a loving family around you? That’s what I am searching for.

Hi, I’m Velvet (2). I am a tall, dark and lovely black Lab mix who was saved by Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue. I am about 1.5 years old and according to my foster mom I am perfect. I am potty trained, familiar with a doggie door and love to explore. That’s probably what got me in trouble as I was picked up as a stray when I couldn’t find my way home. I’ve tried to like the pool but I’m a little timid. So far I have only gotten my paws on the first step but maybe with a little more encouragement I can take that next step into the water. I’m not a big fan of being kennels, but I have shown that I can be trusted to have the run of the house when left alone. I have slight separation anxiety and will cry when you leave  but usually calm down soon after.

I know several commands like sit, stay, come and “NO”. I only need  to be corrected once and I will stop what I am doing. I love hugs and snuggling and am a really good kisser. I am tall and I love counter surfing. Unfortunately, my foster mom has caught onto me and the counters are now clear. I love play time, I am a really good ball catcher and always have a stuffie to carry around. Car rides are my favorite thing and will grab a stuffie to take along on the ride. When I hear those car keys jingle I race to the garage door and yell ‘shotgun” and off we go. I’m up for any adventure. Since I am tall and energetic it would be best if my new family has a tall secure fenced area for me. When I get excited I can jump pretty high and I really wouldn’t like to get lost again. It was pretty scary. I’m very lucky DLRR came to rescue me from the shelter. Because of my size and energy level it would be best if the kids in the home were a little older so I don’t knock them over like bowling pins. I’ve made a new dog friend since I arrived. He doesn’t live here but comes to visit. I think I love him and bring him my favorite stuffie. I have not been cat tested.

If you would like more information about me, please call my foster mom. She loves to brag about me.
