Rex

Rex is a confident, 55-pound fox red pure-bred Lab registered with the AKC as a yellow Lab. He is approaching his 8th birthday on January 18, 2025 but he looks and plays like a youngster! He is housebroken and recently learned the dog-door in his foster home. He sleeps through the night on a dog bed with full access to the house. He has some separation anxiety but he is trustworthy when left alone in the house with the resident dog. He is crate trained but he is much happier with full access. He is a counter surfer so food and toys must be properly stowed before leaving. He loves to play ball and is improving at dropping it. We usually use multiple balls to play with him. He has shown no interest in the pool and rides well in the car. He walks well on the leash with his harness or an over-the-nose style leash. He is leash-reactive when seeing other dogs on walks and shows prey drive instincts when he sees cats and rabbits. In the home, he follows his people around, loves to cuddle, and is good with babies and children. He has shown acceptable behaviors toward other dogs when they don’t want the same toy or ball. We have also seen him guarding people and toys from other dogs. Although he has lived with dogs, he would probably be at his best as the only dog in his forever home. His previous living conditions required many hours in his crate on a daily basis. His best new home will be a place where he is with his people and exercised frequently. If you think Rex is the right fit for you, contact his foster to schedule a showing with him.
