Rex

Hello good people.  My name is Rex and I am a 10+ year old chocolate neutered Labrador Retriever.

My back story goes like this.  I was abandoned with my canine sister, May.  A neighbor contacted DLRR and they saved me and my sister.  Four days later, on July 5th 2024, my damaged eye was removed which tested positive for cancer.  That was followed by radiation treatments and a series of canine cancer vaccines. In the future,  I will need bi-annual cancer vaccines and periodic X-rays.

I was a little on the beefy side weighing in at 98 pounds.  Currently, I am 88.5 pounds.  The vet and my foster mom think 80 pounds is a healthy goal.

From the day of my surgery, I have been living with my foster mom.  Her home is a one story house with two resident dogs, 5 and 6 years old and one five year old cat.  I get along with everyone.  She has a pool but I am not interested.  I don’t even like rain.  Water is for drinking, period.  I use a dog door but if the door is closed, I will let my foster mom know I need to go out.  In fact, I have had no accidents in the house.  My foster mom says I’m sweet but that is just me being me.

A few of my favorite things are good food, homemade treats, a nice soft dog bed, laying in the sun, car rides, meeting new people, kind words and pets/hugs.

I would like you to consider adopting me so I can have a forever home and so you can have a very sweet companion.

I love being around people but I also like canine companionship so a family with a friendly dog may be to my liking and bring on the cats too.

I look forward to meeting you.
