Odin Please meet Odin, aka Odie, a 13-year-old, 81 lb., handsome, sweet and stately dog whose sad story will touch your heart. Two years ago, we were asked by his owner to intake Odie. His ownerhad fallen on hard times, so she moved in with a friend who had a dog Odie did not like. In order to avoid this dog, Odie was locked in a bedroom night and day. DLRR took him in and in short order, his fosters (a senior couple) fell in love with Odie and adopted him! These were happy times for Odie until the husband passed away a year later, and the following year the wife passed away. Odie was very confused and constantly looked for his loved ones. But! DLRR to the rescue (literally)! We took him in a month ago and now he’s ready to once again warm the hearts of loving adopters. Odie is in great shape for his age, despite some stiffness in his back legs. He is an expert sniffer! He loves to sniff everything and he makes his fosters laugh when he sticks his head into open cupboards to check out its contents. He delights in his 2 short walks a day, prancing around until the leash goes on. If we encounter another dog on a walk, Odie barks relentlessly. The DLRR trainer determined that Odie is barking not out of aggression, but excitement and some fear, but it is loud enough to discourage other dogs from coming over to him and it is the reason he needs to be an only dog. Odie follows his fosters around the house, always wanting to be in their company. He even lies outside the bathroom door and near the shower, waiting for us to reappear. His loyalty is so heartwarming! He sleeps in our bedroom, waiting patiently for us to get up in the morning. When we go out, he is a good boy left loose in the house. When we return, he greets us at the door before going to get a stuffed animal to play keep away with. He enjoys playing with balls and will get on the top step of a pool but isn’t interested in swimming. He rides in a car like the gentleman that he is. He has been introduced on several occasions to a 3-year-old and was very sweet with him (after sniffing him all over, of course!) Odie makes us smile every day. He’s a great companion who will make your dogless home complete with his wonderful presence. If you are moved to give Odie a home for the rest of his life, however long it may be, please text to meet him!
