Coal My name is Coal and I’m an 18 month old black Lab mix. Because I’m young, I will be excited to see you, whether it’s our first meeting or our 999th. But once you settle in, I’m happy to lay near you and maybe ask for a scratch every now and then. I do like to be active and love going on walks. I would be a great partner to hike or run with. I do very well on a leash and try to keep my eye on you and where you are going. I’m rock solid on recall. Because of my Lab DNA, I can’t resist chasing after a ball when you throw it, and I will bring it back to your general area, but I’d rather chew on it than give it up. But if you insist, I won’t fight you for it (much). My favorite toys are stuffies and toys that squeak. I’m good with other dogs, and love to play with them. I’m also good around young children. I haven’t met a cat yet, but I will soon. I’m house and dog door trained, and I travel very well in a car. My previous owner let me up on the furniture, but if you tell me to get down I will right away. I really want to please you. I will counter surf, when you’re not around, if there is food within reach. I’m getting better at being left alone, but I don’t like it. Right now, I’m okay with an hour or two, but more than that is hard. If you do leave me at home alone, I howl and sometimes borark. Another dog in the house helps me be more calm, but I’m much happier if you are around most of the time. Despite my age, I’m really an old soul looking for a place to call home for good
