Blade Hi I’m Blade, an 11-year-old 109 lb. black Lab mix. Despite my name there’s nothing sharp about me, with the exception of potentially stealing your heart. After being surrendered to the shelter along with a tiny elderly dog, the folks at DLRR quickly found me a foster family. I enjoy stroll and sniff walks. If I get a little excited around barking dogs, I may pull and I show off my signature hop move, with a firm correction I’m back on track, at times ignoring other dogs completely. My manners are impeccable, I’m house-broken, sleep through the night on a dog bed, no counter-surfing, rarely bark, and I don’t get into trouble when left alone (perfectly trustworthy). I’ll greet you in the morning or when you return to the house with or even for no reason at all with a big smile and my big tail wagging.I am a social butterfly with all the humans I meet, no jumping, ask for rubs (sometimes with the patented Lab lean) and very gentle. I’m good on short rides in the car getting in and out by myself, although I should be tethered. Although I get along with other dogs, my size may be intimidating for some, so I may be better off being the only dog in the home. I love attention and rubs— I even roll over for belly rubs. My foster mom says I am too cute when I’m playing with my ball (by myself or with someone) and tossing my bear stuffie high in the air. A couple of things to note: Blade has a growth on his eyelid that the vet, based on appearance feels is not worrisome. A commitment to administering the vet prescribed twice daily Carprofen is important to Blade’s comfort and care. Sticking to measured feedings (AM/PM) with the occasional veggie treat will help him feel his best. He has not been exposed to cats or children while in foster care.Blade is a sweet and gentle senior boy looking for a household to shower his people with the tons of love he has to give and receive love in return.
