Hi! My name is Ansel. I am a male Lab mix with an amazing personality who will soon turn 3. I am a black beauty full of love, energy and playfulness. Did I mention I have a birthday soon arriving and my biggest birthday wish is to find my forever family? I am great with people, big and small, and dogs. It is best to leave felines out of the equation. I am crate trained, housebroken, in fact I will ring a bell on the doorknob to let you know I want to go out. Sometimes that means to play, sometimes to do my business. I am doggy door trained and have great indoor manners, meaning, I don’t counter surf, I am not destructive in or outside of the house, I treat my toys responsibly, and I can be left unattended while my foster peeps are gone and not get into trouble. I know lots of commands and follow them…well most of the time. Not bad for a young guy, right?

I enjoy playing fetch with the ball, running after the pesky squirrels that tease me, swimming, working on my leash manners, car rides, being next to my peeps, playing with other dogs and sleeping, because I live an active life. I take meds for my anxiety; they help take the edge off but don’t make me lethargic. My foster father works with me every day on the lessons I learned when I was in training because for me, consistency is important. Plus, my foster mom says I have selective memory and remember only the things that are fun and forget those that aren’t! Well, she has a point there! Consistency has also taught me to be less anxious when my peeps leave, because I know they always come back home…no worries there!

I am a devoted companion to my peeps and bond quickly. Loyalty is my motto! If you are interested in joining “Team Ansel”, please text my foster Mom. The lucky family that adopts me will also receive 5 prepaid training sessions with my trainer located in the Phoenix area. Consistency!
