Hello, I’m Alex!

I’m a lovable 4-year-old yellow Lab weighing 67 pounds. I’m a playful and energetic boy who will thrive in an active environment with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Daily exercise is a must to help me burn off my excess energy and keep me happy and healthy. Having a yard for me to run around in would be best to help me release energy, stay engaged and prevent frustration, making me a happier, calmer and better-behaved companion.

I know my basic commands, including “place,” and I respond well to my name, always coming when called. I’m good with cats but I’m still figuring out the delicate art of respecting personal space when it comes to my feline friends. I get along with dogs too though I have never been in the presence of a dog smaller than me. I enjoy being the center of attention and could live in a home as the only pet too. 

I love toys, especially balls and many times I get hyper focused on them. I get excited and jump up to try to get them from the thrower’s hand. I’m probably not suitable for younger kids because of my excitement around toys, I may knock them over while trying to get to my toy. I would benefit from your understanding and guidance to help me manage my toy obsession and learn appropriate boundaries during playtime. When meeting new people, I may either get a bit overexcited or completely ignore them while exploring my new surroundings. Once I calm down and get used to you, I love butt scratches and ear rubs also lounging on my dog bed or curling up on the couch with my favorite person. Patience, structure, and ongoing training will help me thrive in my forever home. And bonus, I come with a trainer who will help with my transition from foster dog to forever dog!
