Hennessy
Meet Hennessy, a nine-year-old, 85-pound blonde Labrador with the heart of
an absolute teddy bear. Despite a traumatic and abusive past, Hennessy has
remained incredibly sweet, affectionate, and gentle—he’s a true
Velcro dog who follows his person from room to room and lives for cuddles and
quiet companionship. He can be a bit vocal at times, usually in short bursts
triggered by other dogs barking, but it’s brief and manageable.
Hennessy would thrive in a calm, low-key home and would do best as an only
dog, though he is generally friendly with other dogs and has done well with
kids; a home without children is preferred simply to keep his environment
peaceful.
Due to his past, he can be uneasy around aggressive male dogs, and while a
previous owner reported fear of men, he has since had positive, neutral
interactions with several men in his current home. Hennessy has arthritis in
his neck related to underlying intervertebral disc disease, which can cause a
limp or clumsy movement at times, but he is currently stable and doing well
on three medications. He rides beautifully in the car and, above all else,
just wants a soft place to land, steady love, and a family who will cherish
him as the loyal, loving soul he is.
