Did you snap a fabulous holiday photo of your labbie this winter? Frolicking in the snow, perhaps? Enjoying a long winter’s nap under the Christmas tree? Celebrating Valentine’s Day?We are seeking high-quality photos of Labs adopted from DLRR for our 2021 calendar. Yes, it’s only February, and we aren’t even used to writing “2020” yet, but we thought we’d give our stellar calendar team the opportunity to peruse photo submissions throughout the year. I don’t know about you, my fellow volunteers, but by the end of summer I have hundreds of pictures of my dogs and going back through them to choose the best can be a tad tedious. Here’s the scoop! Please follow these easy steps to submit your photos: Take a high-quality photo of your DLRR dog that is print-reproducible. Use a digital camera that is 6 megapixels or larger. A cell phone can work as well as long as the image is high resolution. TIP: Set your camera at the highest level of quality possible; on some cameras, this setting is called “super fine.” (You may want to dig into the owner’s manual for instructions.) This setting will create big files, which means fewer pictures will fit on each memory card, but the payoff is worth it. All digital photographs must be in a .jpeg or .jpg format (as attachments, not embedded into the email), at least 2 MB in size and at least 1,600 pixels wide. Format is flexible. However, keep in mind that the large monthly calendar images have a horizontal layout. Please be sure to include the following: Dog’s name, adoptive family’s name, date of adoption from DLRR (month and year are fine) E-mail your photos to email@example.com We are looking for all kinds of great DLRR lab photos: portraits, in-action or playing with their doggie friends and in all seasons! So be creative and have fun with it! Please understand that images with people can be problematic to publish due to model release issues. But if in doubt, please send them in anyway, and we will evaluate them. Also, if you would like to share a little story about your adopted lab, we would LOVE to hear it and possibly publish it in the calendar, on our website, on Facebook or in our newsletter, etc. Need some ideas on how to take great dog photos? Check out “How to photograph pets” or watch this video by Seth Casteel. Although the video is about taking photos of rescue dogs looking for a home, it’s still a great resource. Thank you!
