Indie Hey world! I’m Indie, a 6-month old chocolate Lab. I’m full of puppy love, playfulness, and energy. I’m crate trained and house trained. What a perfect combo – the best of puppy fun without all the mess of puppy training. Here’s some things to know about me: I am very food motivated but have good manners. This means treats are a great training reward, but I don’t have any food aggression or show resource guarding. I am smart and a quick learner – I came into my foster home only knowing “sit” and “shake”. I have learned “outside”, “go to your place”, “crate”, and “off” in just a few weeks. I LOVE pool time. Within minutes of arriving at my foster home I discovered the pool and I want to swim every day… it’s just so much fun! I love other dogs and do well around them. My foster family has 2 resident Labs and I like to play with them. I don’t really bark at other dogs when we walk by them at the park, but I notice them. I think I’d like to play with them! I don’t pull on a leash but I could use some training to walk in a straight line instead of a zig-zag. My bark is loud but I don’t really bark much – I don’t bark at people coming to the door, etc but occasionally I will ‘speak’ with my bark. My foster family thinks it’s cute and silly. I’m really good at crate time. If you leave the house I’ll just nap in my crate. But, if you’re home and put me in my crate, I may get a little whiny because I’d rather hang out with you than spend time in my crate. I’ve almost outgrown my chewing phase – I made confetti out of 1 tissue box and gnawed on a charger cord. Oops! I’m pretty fearless – storms don’t bother me, the doorbell doesn’t bother me. I’m a happy and curious gal. My foster family thinks my previous owners let me up on the sofa because I love the couch. They taught me “off” so I don’t go up on the sofa, which means I am ready to find a forever home whether you let me on the furniture or not. I haven’t been around cats but I’ve been around many other dogs, people of all ages (as young as 3), and I do well with all people and dogs. My foster family doesn’t think I have a ‘prey drive’ as I haven’t minded the stray cat or birds we’ve seen on walks, but I have started to notice birds in the yard. I don’t bother them but I notice them. Fun fact: my foster family hosted a pool party for me. I enjoyed it so much. Their 2 resident black Labs enjoyed it, and so did some extended family with a Chocolate Lab + German Shorthaired Pointer. When they came over for the party, it kinda felt like an instant connection… maybe I am mixed with a GSP? Hmm… my foster family can’t actually confirm this as they haven’t done a DNA test, but when I stood next to the Chocolate Lab and GSP, there were quite the similarities in our mannerisms and looks. I even run like the GSP. If nothing else, their awesomeness rubbed off on me. 😉 What a fun day that was! Anyways… if you’re looking for a playful puppy who’s full of energy and love, comes with basic training, and is ready to learn some more, I’m your girl. I’d thrive in a home that’s moderately active (I am great at running with my foster mom), and yet I can also do some cuddly nap times. My dream home would have a pool or at least be able to take me swimming somewhere – this isn’t necessary, but totally a dream. Reach out to my foster family if you want to meet me!
