Merlin Looking for some magical summer nights? Need a loyal grilling partner? Then Merlin could be your guy! Merlin is a tall, 2-year-old, 85 lb. black male Lab mix with a heart as big as his paws! He’s a sweet, energetic and lovable companion who thrives on playtime and companionship. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a brisk walk or just hanging out with his favorite humans, Merlin is always up for fun. What Merlin Loves: A canine companion to play with or playdates with other dogs, a careful introduction first, he’s a sniffer so other dogs may take offense to that. Daily walks and outdoor adventures, he’s good on the leash, although he can pull hard if he senses something of interest. Fetch and interactive games, plush toys and squeaky toys. Treats (hot dogs and deli meat over dog treats!) and training sessions (he’s a quick learner), he takes his treats very gently! Sleeping peacefully in a crate, on the bedroom floor or on your bed. Household Skills: Housebroken and uses a doggie door Crate-trained as a pup; now enjoys free roam Non-destructive indoors; no counter-surfing (though he can reach the table!) Shares toys, treats and food willingly-he’s a generous soul A Few Things to Know: Merlin is a medium/high to high energy dog and he would enjoy a large yard to romp around. He can be a very strong puller on a leash if he sees something he is interested in, be it another dog, a rabbit or an interesting smell. Merlin can also be timid in new outdoor surroundings and will walk closely next to you if he gets nervous. His adopters should be aware of this and committed to helping him overcome his pulling and improve his leash skills and we expect he will settle in and come out of his shell once he is in a comforting forever home. Merlin is a bit nervous around young children and his play style can be rough since he is such a big, tall boy. He will need to be in a home with older children or adults who can provide him with the structure and calm he needs to thrive. Merlin is a big gentle guy who sometimes forgets his size.
