Buddy

Hi there, I’m Buddy! I’m a 3-year-old, 65-pound lab mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for humans. My journey to Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue (DLRR) started when some kind folks found me as a stray. They couldn’t keep me, so now I’m staying at Heidi’s Village, where I’m learning and getting ready to meet my forever family. Could that be you?

Here’s a little about me: I’m crate-trained, housebroken, and I love car rides. I’ve even spent time with kids in a previous home and enjoyed my interactions with them. When I’m with my people, I’m the happiest boy you’ll ever meet – running, playing tug with my rope toy, or chasing a ball are my favorite things. I bring all the joy and energy you could want in a best friend!

Now, I’ll be honest – I need structure and rules. I do best when I have a clear understanding of what is expected of me.  My previous life has made me a bit unsure and I would like my forever home to have a strong leader who is good with setting rules and structure for me so that I can be the best version of me!  Being around lots of dogs here at the kennel can make me a little reactive, but I’m working hard on it! It would be best if I am going to have a fur sibling a calm, mild-manner sibling would be best.  My trainer says I’m like a Ferrari – I take a bit of time to learn how to drive but once you get the hang of it, we are going to have so much fun.

The best part? My trainer is here to help both of us succeed! She will work with us to make sure you feel confident and comfortable, answer your questions, and give us all the tools we need to thrive together.

In return for your patience and guidance, I promise to shower you with love and loyalty. My tail wags are guaranteed to brighten your day, and I’ll always be ready to make life a little more fun. I’m learning more every day and can’t wait to keep growing with the right family by my side. Are you ready to be my forever pawent?
